If you thought that Freighters were fairly good when it comes to affecting the system's economy, Freightliners will definitely come as a big surprise. These are the huge transport ships that can be almost 900 meters long and carry enough material to pay for themselves in only a few mining runs. Their storage space can be up to 300% bigger than the space provided by the best Freighter. Use this to your advantage, but remember that they won't stand a chance even against the smaller battleships classes. With the addition of the fleet features, you will be able to protect your Freightliners from Pirate raids and other factions who want a monopoly on certain resources.

Additional Information

They are huge and slow. They have no firepower and might even take their time with shredding bigger asteroids. However, their cargo space can store more than 2000 units of the most valuable items which will, if you know where to sell them, tenfold your Empire's income. Soon, you will have enough money to buy even the most expensive ships like Dreadnoughts and Carriers, in order to easily expand the borders of your empire. However, remember to always have a Plan B when you decide to mine more valuable resources, as those areas are often filled with ships from other factions who want their piece of cake. Have a fleet of carefully picked ships as an escort, which will be ready to help you out whenever it's needed.

Enemy Freightliners are very useful for a quick buck, once you get good enough at boarding enemy vessels. As you no longer need to grapple and tow the ship to a station when you capture it unlike in earlier games, the speed at which you will earn Credits and Materials to build more ships will grow exponentially.
